Should I be a Yoga Teacher?
Should I be a Yoga Teacher?
So, you love the practice and have been practicing for at least two years? You either want to expand your yogic knowledge or maybe you've decided to get certified as a form of extra income or even considering making it a full-time career. If you said yes to any or all of the above, welcome! You're in the right place. What are the pros the con and everything in between of becoming a yoga teacher and is it the right choice for you?
As a yoga teacher, especially in mid-America, it's common to have multiple streams of income. Whether they also be a Realtor, Homemaker, Massage Therapist or even an Artist. There's typically always a back-up/ bonus. Not to say it isn't possible to teach at several locations/ studios/ create private clientele, but building up a roster of studios and clients is something that takes time and commitment. That may not be quick to achieve for fresh-faced teachers who are still honing their craft and finding their voice.
That's not to dissuade but rather inform. For those in more densely populated city your access to studios might allow you to quickly hop on sub lists (more on this soon) and find 5-10 studios without a hitch. Lots of juggling but getting on a studios schedule takes a bit of patience and a lot of flexibility.
If you're still with me and I haven't scared you away-- just yet, I'd say teacher training is right for you. You know the reality of the situation. Not that you can't build a self-sustaining yoga career, but remember "An overnight success usually takes 15 years". With your head on straight we'll dive deeper into the next topic, "What kind of 200hr training should I take?".
XOXO
